Part 4
Beep-beep-beep. Beep-beep-beep. Beep-beep- “SHUT THE FUCK UP SERA!!!!!” Paige lunged out from under her comforter to the other bed. It was empty. Paige blew some hair out of her eyes. “Ugh. That’s right. Sera has classes but I don’t have mine til one-thirty…” Sera’s laptop kept it’s steady beeping. It’s reward was to be glared at by icy blue eyes. Paige hopped on Sera’s bed and pulled the laptop on her lap. Her method of turning the thing off was to hit it or launch it off the balcony. But she had a feeling that Sera wouldn’t give her a thank you and a pie if she did. ‘Where was the off switch on this thing…?!’ A popup flashed on the screen. NEW CONNECTION NEW CONNECTION NEW CONNECT… Paige clicked the OK button and a window popped up with someone in it. Paige stared at it a moment. Then, “Heeeey! General Stag! Wazzup?”
“Paige…? Oh god. Look, Paige, get Sera on, alright?”
“No can do she’s at class just tell me instead.”
“I refu- oh alright. The way you three are progressing is unsatisfactory in that the duration of your residence in dublin is increasing with no or little productivity as far as I can tell and- …What are you doing?!”
“What does it look like?” Paige slipped on Sera’s headphones and browsed her music section. Jpop, Jpop, Jpop. Geez. Does this girl ever listen to anything actually American?
“You you you listen to me right now Paige Sinclair!”
“But you’re booooring. And I don’t even understand what you’re saying.”
“You most certainly do. I know you do. Do not lie to me. You were the top of your class you know it now LISTEN. You three are taking too much time. Finish the mission, then get out of there. The CIA is having to pay for your admission to that school you know!”
“Yeah yeah find the people do it fast then get out so you guys can keep your coffee machine in the lobby cool later you senior citizen you.” She closed the window as the General’s face turned purple. She switched off the laptop so she would have no other disturbances, and jumped into bed. She still had four hours’ worth of sleep and a dream with Orlando Bloom as Legolas she wanted to finish.

“So what are we supposed to do?”
“Hell if I know!”
“The school’s system says there are approximately 250 students, not to mention maybe twenty teachers. It could be any one of them.” Levi turned the laptop around so they could see the statistics.
“Well that’s great. What’re we supposed to do?! Post a bulletin on the website: ‘Looking for an assassin and the person they are targetting. Much obliged.’” Paige rolled her eyes.
“Just make a list of the students, all of them, and cross them off when we get evidence to prove they’re not either the assassin. Once we find the assassin, it’ll be easy to find the victim.” Sera tucked a strand of hair behind an ear.
“Forget about the really violent or crazy ones. They wouldn’t do it. They might be the victim, but not the assassin.” Levi added.
“Uh, why? You have to suspect everyone and besides, if they’re known for something like that, they can do it more than once. Duh.”
“It’s not the crazy ones we have to worry about, because crazy people always do crazy things. But it’s the calm ones that we have to worry about, because you never know when one of them will do something really stupid. It’s been proven.” Levi said, with a meaningful look at Paige, whose gaze was focused on the laptop screen. Sera caught the look and snickered. When Paige looked up, Sera smiled at her and patted her head affectionately. Paige edged away.
“I think Sera should do it.” Paige announced. “She got such good grades the first two weeks that she even got on the independent study list. So you don’t have to go to class so you have a ton of time to slink around. And if a teacher asks what you’re doing, seduce them so they’ll forget what they were talking about.”
Levi laughed outright. Sera stuck her tongue out at him. “Fine fine. Oh, before I forget, did either of you get a call from Stag? He said he would call.”
“Oh, right. I answered,” Paige replied absently, busy checking her email. “He sends his love, all that stuff.”
Sera thought of pressing her but decided that she would be content with the fact that her laptop was still whole and working. She would have to go to the convenience store that weekend and get Paige a pie for not breaking her laptop. Positive re-enforcement. That’s what the book said. Sera was reading a book for research so she would know how to better communicate and thereby deal with Paige. The book’s title was called House Training: Puppies & Adult Dogs.
(Sorry it took so long to get this up. I'm working on the logo and 3/2 also has a new banner fwee!)
